About Us

Our Church

We are a congregation of the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia, a denomination which is part of the Presbyterian/Reformed family of churches world-wide. As a denomination, we have existed in Australia since 1950. Our local church in Rivett was established in 1975.

We are a Christian church, not a sect. We're just ordinary people to whom God has shown his love. You are most welcome to attend any of our worship services. We are honest about what we believe and we strive to be a caring community.

Our Purpose

To glorify God, and enjoy Him forever.

Our "official" purpose as an incorporated body is to promote the worship of God and to preach God's Word.

We conduct many activities in keeping with that purpose, but at the centre of our life as a church are our gatherings for worship. We meet on Sunday mornings and evenings with the specific purpose of praising God and listening to his voice as he speaks to us through the Bible.

Our Faith

The Reformed Church of Canberra is:

  • Christian
All our hope as God's people is in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God, and who became a man to save all God's people from eternal death. Our church is a place where you and your family can come to hear about the saving work that God has done through Jesus Christ.

  • Bible-Based
We believe the Bible is God's Word to us, and so it is without error and contains all we need to know for true peace with God and with each other. We strive to base all our activities and our teaching upon the truth as revealed in the Bible.

  • Reformed
We trace our roots as a denomination back to the Protestant Reformation, which was a 16th century reform movement in church and society that went back to the truth of the Bible. We believe that truth is ever new and ever important for everyone's life!
